Back in 2015 KBF in India opened a small hospice dedicated to caring for the homeless, most vulnerable residents of Kolkata. The aim was to provide medical attention and care and allow those who approach the end of their lives to die in dignity.
Every person received a bed or mattress, good food, and dedicated staff to care for them. Over the past years, KBF staff looked respectfully after those who passed away in peace, but what surprised us and filled us with joy was that many very sick patients recovered.

Because of the nature of the project’s over the past years, with many patients choosing to stay on after they have recovered, KBF decided to stop calling it the hospice, and instead, we now refer to it as CARE HOME.
KBF take care of around twenty-five patients, with a full-time nurse and a part-time doctor and physio. The doctors and physios at the new care home report that even after only one month with us, patients look happier and healthier.
Until 2022, the project had been regularly moved from one rented property to another. However, thanks to the amazing generosity of our supporters, we are pleased to announce that we now have a new completed KBF care home!.
Good relationships with the people in the local villages have always been important and Amar and his team have worked really hard to make sure this continues, there have been many opportunities to meet with the local people, all of whom have been really positive about the new care home.
Please see below a selection of photos, showing our wonderful new facility…

Again, a big THANK YOU to all our supporters for your amazing generosity that has enabled the home to be built !!
